The Speakers:

Margo Long

Margo LongMargo Long is professor emerita at Whitworth University. She has always loved education, beginning her career as a middle school teacher, where she immediately found out if you want students to learn, you need to be interesting and funny at the same time. She also encountered the importance of making learning challenging and engaging. These guidelines followed her through her 40 years of college teaching and the founding of the Center for Gifted Education in 1971, which continues today as the only one of its kind in the Inland Northwest. She has been an integral member of the Washington Association of Educators of the Talented and Gifted and the Washington State Advisory Board for Gifted Education. Margo continues her consulting in the Pacific Northwest and actively serves the teaching and health professions, as well as the business sector, specializing in creative and critical problem-solving, communication, learning styles and issues of gifted education. She often comments, "love the creativity and stimulation of the classroom. To me it is the most challenging and enjoyable responsibility in the world."
