Israel Carr

Israel CarrIsrael Carr, a native of Robie Creek, Idaho, attended Riverstone International School and was a member of the first graduating class in '05. While there he helped found the One Stone Foundation, a student run nonprofit, and was served as the first chairman. He sat on the board of directors for the subsequent years of high school. Working as a carpenter he was able to go to Mexico on multiple trips to build orphanages and churches. He then went on to Middlebury College where he received his Bachelors of Liberal Arts. He graduated with honors in his major. In addition, he played on the Middlebury Rugby team and they won the national championship in '07 and '09. After college he taught in the US for a year before going to Madagascar with the United States Peace Corps. He served as a teacher in the public school system for two years and led the Volunteer Action Committee for southern Madagascar.

As an advocate for education, he founded the Antanosy Aid Association, a nonprofit organization, which currently boasts over two hundred members who are working together to combat hunger and illiteracy. The three part mission statement "teaching those who want to learn, feeding those that cannot feed themselves, and building community through social justice" has become the war cry of community based aid efforts in Fort Dauphin. Israel has recently returned to continue his work as a teacher here in the US.
